What's New for 2003

2002 Geneva Motor Show
Day Two
Cadillac Cien
This mid-engine prototype debuted in Detroit and it was built to celebrate cadillac's centennial.  The engine is a 750 horsepower Northstar V12, and the styling is outstanding the most mesmerizing car at the Geneva auto show.  For GM to demostrate that that cadillac has shed the shackles of the past three-plus decadesand serve notice the company deserves to sit at the head table of luxury cars makers, it can make no better, stronger or more dramatic statement than putting the Cien into limited production.
Pagani Zonda S 7.3
Pagani and Bugatti's stands were directly across from each other, and made an interesting contrast not only in design, but in terms of how quickly the product came to market.  Horacio Pagani did it right, for within a year of his car initial showing, you could buy one. as spectacular as the Veyron is, it will be another 18 months or so before it goes on sale. that will make it 3 1/2 years old when it hits the streets.  Horacio Newest is the Zonda S 7.3 that features an AMG Mercedes 555 hp V12.  What makes the Zonda so endearing is it remains one man's vision of an exotic car should be.
Peugeot Concepts
Peugeot's mid engine RC Diamonds & Spades were two of the show's most intriguing offerings. the Diamonds in red was powered by a 175 hp disel engine, while the Spades in black used a 190 hp gasoline engine. The fender over the front wheels was an interesting cutout that acted as an air channel, and resembled ideas seen earlier on Pininfarina's Ferrari Rossa and Porsche's GT Carrera concepts.
Venturi Fetish
France's Venturi displayed an interesting prototype, which is said will go in to production in the next two years using an unnamed mass production engine. the body is a mix of aluminium and composite material.
